How it works

Thermosiphon: physics does the work

The coil connects to the tub with two hoses. There is no pump and no motor: the water moves on its own because hot water is lighter than cold water.

  • No pump, no wiring and no motor.
  • You can cook on top of the coil while the water heats.
1The fire heats the coilFirewood burns inside the stainless steel coil and heats the water flowing through it.
2Hot water risesAs it warms, the water rises and enters the tub through the top port.
3Cooler water returnsCooler water sinks and flows back to the coil through the bottom one. It keeps circulating as long as the fire burns.

How long does it take to heat?

Reference times to about 40 °C (104 °F). An insulated tub heats more water in less time.

Enjoy it safely

Before you get in

  • Always check the water temperature: it can go above 45 °C (113 °F) if the fire keeps burning.
  • The most comfortable range is 37 to 40 °C (99 to 104 °F).
  • Keep children and pets away from the fire and supervise children in the water.

Water and upkeep

  • Works with fresh water, salt water or chlorinated water.
  • To drain it, use the bottom quick connect.
  • No firewood at hand? A propane burner works too.

If you are pregnant or have a heart or blood pressure condition, check with your doctor before using intense heat.
